These resources have been designed to be used at the end of learning Phase 2 (once all the sounds have been introduced) to check learners knowledge. There are two sheets of the same design with a variation of the challenge provided, enabling you to choose the right level of support for your learners. Who’s it for? These resources have been designed to be used at the end of Phase 2 by Reception/Year 1 pupils - primarily for assessment purposes. This resource is also ideal for supporting older pupils with additional learning needs. How to use it Learners sound out a word (looking at a picture) and write graphemes within each word on the lines provided. The resources included are at two levels, the icon at the lower right side indicates the level of challenge as higher/lower. At the top of both sheets a ‘colour key’ is included - recapping on the Phase 2 sounds and order these are taught. Red sounds are introduced first s a t p i n (so should be most familiar), orange sounds are next m d g o c k, followed by yellow ck e b r u h then green f ff l ll ss which are the last of the Phase 2 sounds. This download includes x26 simple, predictable alphabet rhymes - one for every letter of the alphabet. Each rhyme is in colour and black and white (so x52 sheets in total). How to use this resource Learners might like to practise reading these on their own, in pairs or small groups or even as a class during a whole carpet session, reading/singing along together.
